Spa break at The Calcot

As most of you know, James is off on paternity leave, so we are trying to make the most of his time off and go on as many family trips and outings, as possible. The other week, we had the opportunity to visit the Cotswolds and stay at the lovely Calcot & Spa.

The hotel is located on 220 acres of land and is absolutely stunning. We stayed in one of the family rooms and it was just perfect. It had all the charm you'd expect from a place in the Cotswolds.

Despite terrible weather (it rained the entire time we were there), we managed to have the most amazing time, thanks to all the wonderful amenities on site, including an outdoor hot tub overlooking a gorgeous open wood fire.

One of my favourite things about the Calcot & Spa is how family friendly it is. There is an onsite creche, so James and I were able to leave Sebastian there for a couple of hours whilst we enjoyed some of the spa amenities, including the sauna, steam room, and heated pool. Afterwards, we were able to spend some time with Sebastian in the kiddie pool, during the designated children hours. It was the perfect balance of family time and couple time.

We're weaning Sebastian, so I was a bit worried how the food situation was going to work. We've only ever fed him at home and it is always very messy. So, you can imagine my relief when I found out that both the onsite restaurant and pub cater to children and babies. All the food on the children's menu was offered as a puree for Sebastian and they even supplied us with weaning spoons, bibs, and sippy cups. They also offered Ella's Kitchen pouches as an alternative to the kids menu, which by the way was included in our stay. It definitely allowed me to relax a bit more, knowing that feeding Sebastian wasn't going to be a whole ordeal.

We dined at the Calcot for every meal and I was not disappointed. Both the food and drink in The Gumstool Inn (the Calcot's own village-style pub) and the hotel's Conservatory restaurant were delicious. The service was also top notch. Despite the hotel offering a listening in service, we took Sebastian with us to dinner and the staff were so accommodating. Breakfast was a mix of made to order hot food and cold food buffet. I, of course over indulged, but it couldn't be helped, the food was so good.

When we checked out, we were given a goodie bag with water and sweets. It was the perfect ending to a lovely stay. I will definitely be visiting the Calcot & Spa again with my little family and I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you're traveling with little ones, like we were. You'll have the best time.
